I remember the moment I fell in love

with chemistry: I was an undergraduate student analyzing my first NMR experiment. I had taken a vial of colorless molecules, each one only a few millionths the diameter of a pencil tip, and now I could “see” them, probing their structures and inferring how they might behave.

I am a fantasy book nerd, and to me, this was magic.

Now I get to do it every day.

I work in biotech and have characterized all kinds of compounds, from small molecules to proteins, mostly by mass spectrometry. Much of my characterization and analytical chemistry experience has been in the pharmaceutical industry, and my work has supported supported regulatory filings including INDs, NDAs, and BLAs. One of my proudest moments has been helping to develop one of the COVID-19 vaccines.

These days I work for a biotech company that bioengineers organisms to synthesize a variety of useful products. Together, we’re helping to deliver on the promise of synthetic biology

I am not currently looking for other scientific opportunities, but you’re welcome to check out my CV and read more about my science. Please note that all views expressed on this site (and elsewhere on the web) are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of my employer.
